You'll be hard pressed to find a cross country and track and field
coach in New England as decorated as Jim Jellison Now entering
his 29th season as head coach, Jellison continues to produce outstanding
athletes and teams. Championship performances have been the
norm for the Falcons under Jellison, stretching from 1984 when he
guided the women's track team to the ECAC title, to the fall of
2003 when the men captured the MASCAC cross country crown.
Jellison began his Fitchburg State coaching career as the head
coach of the women's programs in 1977. He teamed with men's
coach Jim Sheenhan before inheriting the men's program in the mid
1990's. Jellison has guided ten Falcon teams to championships
while coaching 43 All-Americans including four NCAA national champions.
Jellison retired from teaching physical education at the end of
2003. Jim and his wife Alice live in Fitchburg with their
three sons Robbie (15), Chris (12) and Shane (2).
