The Douglas and Isabella Crocker Center for Community Service
"To those who have been given much, much is expected"
The Douglas and Isabella Crocker Center for Community Service, also known as the CCS, has many opportunities for anyone interested in volunteering. The main goal of the CCS is to make a difference not only in the college atmosphere but in the community as well. With each event, we leave an imprint in the hearts of others. When you volunteer you are truly making a difference in the lives of others. The employees of the CCS plan events that many people take pride participating in. It is important to us to give back to the community. Each and every one of us is busy with school and other events, but we make time in our lives to reach out and make an impact on the lives of others. You may ask yourself how you can get involved. If you have an idea that you would like to work on or need help starting, our staff would love to give you a hand. We are always looking for new ideas. Or if you are interested in being a volunteer at any event, all you have to do is leave your name and a way for us to contact you and we will be sure to inform you of our events as they come.
We provide a variety of opportunities for people to volunteer: Letters to soldiers, Kids Day, The Angel Tree, Egg Hunt, Holiday Parties, Blood Drives, Clothing and Food Drives, Fundraiser BBQ's and many other events. All of the events vary on the amount of time needed from volunteers. It doesn't matter if it is only for an hour or for the whole duration of the event, we will have opportunities to fit your interests.
Thank you for your interest in the Douglas and Isabella Crocker Center for Community Service! It means alot that you want to make a difference in the lives of others. And remember that we have all been given the privilege of being able to help others.

What is there for me to do?
Campus Wide Programs
Some of the traditional programs are:
- Holiday Party with the City of Fitchburg
- The Kids Day activities at the North St. Playground
- The Halloween Party with the City of Fitchburg
- The Easter Egg Hunt
- The Red Cross Blood Drive
- Special programs during holiday season (such as Thanksgiving...)
The Center for Community Service organizes many large scale projects
throughout the year. These are great opportunities to try
out volunteering or to get your friends to volunteer with
you! The projects do not take up a lot of time, so if you're
a busy student attending one of these is a great way to participate
in making a difference in your community!
All students are welcome and encouraged to volunteer in all
programs. Each program is unique and connects the student
to the community and gives an opportunity to make a difference.
Ongoing Programs
The Center for Community Service has several ongoing programs run by
the students like visits to nursing homes, mentoring, children
book collections etc. Students at FSC are encouraged to develop
their ideas into realities. Students are encouraged to take
initiative and plan feasible programs with our complete support
and guidance (help). The Center for Community Service also works with
local community agencies to provide Fitchburg State students
and student organizations with longer-term volunteer opportunities,
such as weekly visits to a nursing home or day care center.
Organizational Programs
Our staff will help your club or organization discover and
plan a project. You may simply want to help with a project
that is already underway, or have some fun and "adopt" a project
for the semester.
