Office of the Registrar: GI Bill Benefits

Initiating your GI Bill benefits: Chapters 30, 32, 33, 1606, 1607

Once accepted into a degree program you will need to provide the Registrar’s Office with a Member-4 copy of your DD-214 and/or a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) in order for the college to begin your enrollment confirmations with the VA. Once received you must follow the steps below. The Registrar’s Office will thereafter check your enrollment status each semester and certify enrollment with the VA in Buffalo when applicable.

If you have never used your GI Bill benefits:

  1. Complete the Application for VA Education Benefits (form 22-1990) online at: http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
  2. Every month you will need to certify to the VA that you are still attending courses via the VA Monthly Certification Hotline (1-877-823-2378) or online at https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave in order to have your payment released.

If you have previously used your GI Bill benefits at another institution:

  1. Complete the Request For Change of Program or Place of Training (form 22-1995) online at: http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
  2. Every month you will need to certify to the VA that you are still attending courses via the VA Monthly Certification Hotline (1-877-823-2378) or online at https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave in order to have your payment released.
