Recreation Services: Fitness Center Policies
Health and Fitness begin here. Whether you are into weight training,
bodybuilding or simply staying in shape, the Fitness Center is the
place to be. The 3,000 sq. ft. room is fully equipped with state-of-the-art
weight and fitness machines and a friendly staff ready to assist
you.

Fitness Center Policies
The reason for the rules of the Fitness Center is two-fold: 1)
to provide a safe and enjoyable exercise environment for all users
and, 2) to maintain the equipment in excellent working order and
looking like new.
General Policies
- Please leave your gym bag in the locker room or in the bins in the Fitness
Center.
- Please enjoy your food and beverages outside of the Fitness
Center in the lower level lobby. Only bottled water is permitted.
- Shirts are required.
- Proper athletic/fitness footwear must be worn. Barefeet, sandals,
workboots, or street shoes are not allowed.
- Please report all injuries and any equipment failures to a Fitness Center staff member.
- It is strongly recommended that you are properly oriented on
all of the exercise equipment, prior to beginning an exercise
program.
- It is strongly recommended that you warm-up prior to and cool-down
after exercise.
Cardiovascular Equipment
- Please limit yourself to 30 minutes on all cardiovascular equipment;
20 minutes during prime time.
- Please wipe off controls, seats, and railings of equipment when
you have finished with your workout. Please do not spray cleaning
fluid directly on the equipment. Spray the cleaning towel first,
and then wipe down the areas.
Circuit Strength Training Equipment
- People within the circuit have the right of way. People using
the equipment for multiple sets should allow circuit trainers
to “work-through”.
- During prime times, please limit yourself to a maximum of two
sets per station while using the strength training circuit.
- Please wipe off the pads with disinfectant when you have finished
using a piece of equipment.
Free Weights
- Due to the potential risk of injury, we recommend using a spotter
when training with free weights.
- Please replace all dumbbells on the appropriate racks, in the
assigned spaces when you have finished using them.
- Please remove plates from bars and place them on the weight
tree when you have finished using them.
- The use of chalk is not permitted in any area of the Fitness
Center.
- The use of a weight belt is not permitted except during heavy
squats or overhead lifts. The use of a weight belt is not permitted
on any of the equipment outside of the free weight room or on
the preacher curl bench.
- Weight collars must be used on barbells at all times.
- Please do not drop the dumbbells on the floor. If they are too
heavy to lower safely, then use a spotter to assist you.
- The use of free weights outside of the free weight area is not
permitted.
