Placement Testing: What Do My Placement Test Scores Mean?


Algebra

If you score 82 or above you passed the required Mathematics readiness
standard. You can register for any first level Math course offered at FSC. Please discuss with your advisor the course that would be best suited to your major.

If you score between 50 and 81 you are required to take Basic Math II (MATH 0200). Please refer to the placement test re-take guidelines if you scored between 72 - 81.

If you score between 49 or below you are required to take Basic Math I (MATH 0100). Please refer to the placement test re-take guidelines if you scored between 40 - 49.

Writing

The result of your Placement Test Essay will determine which Writing Course that you will take.  A score of 4,5,6,7 will place you into Writing I, the first College Level Writing course. Students that score an '8' can enroll in Writing II.

Students that score a '3' or below are required to enroll in Basic College Writing.
