The Curriculum for the Diploma Degree R.N. - On-line program coming soon

The total credits for the Baccalaureate Degree with a major in nursing are 124 credits.  The specific requirements are as follows:

Liberal Arts and Science Required Courses:

General Psychology 3
Introduction to Sociology 3
Anatomy & Physiology I & II 8
Human Growth & Development 3
Survey of Microorganisms 3
Electives 3
  29 Credits*

* An additional 15 credtis can be transferred in from courses taken at four-year colleges or universities.

Liberal Arts & Science courses are required for a total of 62 credits. In addition to courses, some of these requirements may be fulfilled through CLEP (College Level Examination Program) testing, which can be arranged through Career Services at Fitchburg State College.

Nursing Courses Which Can Be Challenged:

Credit for the following RN courses can be earned by taking the National League for Nursing ACE examinations. Students can sign up for these tests through the Department of Nursing at Fitchburg State College. It is the belief of the Fitchburg State College nursing faculty that chemistry and nutrition content are integrated into the Diploma courses thus Chemistry and Nutrition are not required courses. If an ACE exam score of 90 is not achieved in specific content, the appropriate FSC course will be selected from the following list:
