Advanced Placement for the Registered Nurse - now offered as an On-line program
For more information about the program please click Here:
All candidates for advanced placement within the nursing department must hold a current Registered Nurse license. Advanced placement to the Department of Nursing is awarded in two ways: through articulation agreements between FSC and the program from where they graduated, and within the Registered Nurse track in the nursing department. The Department of Nursing has articulation agreements with nine community colleges including Adirondack Community College , Becker College , Bristol Community College , Middlesex Community College , Mount Wachusett Community College , Northern Essex Community College , Quinsigamond Community College , and Springfield Technical Community College . FSC accepts nursing credits in place of sophomore and junior nursing courses. These Agreements grant advanced placement to graduates of these colleges who hold a registered nurse license, and who achieved a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
Graduates of non-articulated but accredited registered nurse programs who meet the minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible for advanced placement. Accreditation requires that the RN's Associate Degree program must be one approved by the board of nursing in the state where the school is located, and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Those applicants who do not meet GPA standards are also able to obtain advanced placement through the use of NLN ACE II exams, which grant Fitchburg State College credit for a score of 90 or better.
Diploma graduates who are licensed RN's are eligible for Advanced Placement through the NLN ACE II Exams. Please contact the Department of Nursing sy 978-665-3221 for further information.
