The 2nd Annual Distinguished Speaker Event
with Dr. Robert Brooks

Dr. Robert Brooks will present a day long workshop on

"Working with Angry and Resistant Youth: Strategies for
Fostering Motivation, Self-Discipline and Resilience"

March 19, 2008 - 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
(Snow date: March 20, 2008)

at Fitchburg State College, Weston Auditorium

About the Event

Angry, resistant youth pose difficult challenges for both parents and professionals alike. Many adults, frustrated by the lack of cooperation and provocative behavior of these children and adolescents, resort to a more punitive approach that unfortunately, is counterproductive. In this workshop, Dr. Brooks will offer an alternative model rooted in the concept of mindsets. He will describe the characteristics of mindsets that are self-defeating and those that are associated with self-discipline and resilience. This model can be applied in residential programs, schools, and homes. He will highlight the mindset of adults who are effective with uncooperative, resistant youth.

Registration Fees: $115 includes workshop, luncheon and continuing education units (no refunds)
