IMAGE FILE SPECIFICATIONS & DEADLINES, 6-29-04

DEADLINE MEANS THE TIME THE IMAGE IS READY TO SEND TO THE PRINTER.

If shooting digital, allow for a minimum of two hours BEFORE DEADLINE for downloading, editing, image file preparation and burning to a CD (if necessary for transport to the printer).

If not shooting digital, add the time it takes to get your film or slides processed, plus a minimum of two hours BEFORE DEADLINE in the Graphics Lab to edit the images, scan the accepted image(s), and prepare the file for printing.

Please plan accordingly!

Following are file specifications for our three printing options.

• 16x20 inch photographic print, JR Photo, Parkhill Plaza
  The project is budgeted for a maximum of seven. I will check to see if the photo must be on the vertical.
  

  FILE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 10 inches tall on maximum dimension
  • 300 DPI resolution
  • RGB color mode

  There are three photo deadlines:

  1. Two photos, Friday, 7-2-04, 11:30am
  2. Three photos, Friday, 7-2-04, 4:30pm
  3. Two photos, Saturday, 7-3-04, 9:30am

  To be printed at JR, a photo must be approved and its image file prepared to specifications and burned onto a CD-rom by the photo deadline. Delivery to JR Photo and pickup from JR Photo times are:

  1. Deliver CD to JR: 12:00pm, Friday, 7-2-04
  2. Deliver CD to JR: 5:00pm, Friday,7-2-04 and pick up two prints
  3. Deliver CD to JR: 10:00am, Saturday, 7-3-04 and pick up three prints
  4. Pick up last two prints from JR: 12:30pm, Saturday, 7-3-04
  
  
• 8x10 inch photographic print, Creative Studio of Photography
  The project is budgeted for a maximum of 16 matboard mounts.

  FILE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Image size of 6.33x9.50 inches
  • Canvas size of 8x10 inches
  • 267 DPI resolution
  • RGB color mode
  • Rotated VERTICAL

  Start the Raster software and drop the finished files in the Hot Folder before sending to the printer. Both are on the Mac desktop.

  The photo deadlines are:

  1. Friday, 7-2-04, 2:00pm
  2. Monday, 7-5-04, 3:00pm

  To be printed at Creative, a photo must be approved and its image file prepared to specifications and burned onto a CD-rom by the photo deadline. Printing will occur at Creative on Friday afternoon for team members at large. Only the women's Pro1/2 Downtown Criterium will be printed on Monday.

  
  
• 11x16 inch inkjet print, FSC Photo Lab Epson Printer
  The project must fill a quota of 15 usable, mounted 16x20" prints by Sunday evening.

  FILE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Image size of 11x16 inches
  • 320 DPI resolution
  • RGB color mode

  The photo deadlines are:

  1. Friday, 7-2-04, 5:00pm
  2. Saturday, 7-3-04, 5:00pm
  3. Sunday, 7-4-04, 12:00pm for Saturday photos, 5:00pm for Sunday photos assigned before 6:00pm.
  4. Monday, 7-5-04, 3:00pm

  File downloading, negative scanning, and printing in the FSC photo lab will occur throughout the project during open lab hours (Thursday-Sunday, 8:00am-9:00pm). Each shooter is guaranteed ONE image in the show. The earlier you come back with photos, the better your chance of having additional images in the final exhibit.
