Borrowing Policies
To check out library material you must present your Library Card and be currently enrolled or employed at Fitchburg State. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Students, faculty and staff - your One Card is your Library Card. We are implementing an automatic update of student account information based on your enrollment through the campus system. However, if your library account does not get updated for some reason and it says expired in our system, you will need to show a proof of enrollment such as copy of your course schedule or logging into Web4 the first time you check any materials out that semester.
Items in the Main Book Collection, Children's Literature, Young Adult Literature, and Audio CD's may be checked out as follows:
- Fitchburg State Students - 28 days, and renewed twice for an additional 28 days per renewal. The exception to this is the end of each semester when all materials are due back by the last day of final exams. There is no maximum checkout limit.
- Fitchburg State Faculty and Staff - 180 days, and renewed once for an additional 180 days. There is no maximum checkout limit.

Renewal Policies
The Circulation staff reserves the right to require the early return of a renewed item or deny a renewal if it is needed by another Fitchburg State student or faculty member.
There are four ways to renew items:
- Online renewal - connect to the Library Catalog and access your account directly by clicking on "My Account ". Select Barcode or Institution ID and type the corresponding number in the box, type in your last name, and click on "Login".
- At the Circulation Desk - stop by the Circulation Desk and renew your items whether you have them with you or not.
- Via phone - call the Circulation Desk during our hours of operation at (978) 665-3063 and renew them over the phone. Please be sure to include your name and library barcode/institution ID number.
- Via email - email your renewal request to circulation@fsc.edu. Please be sure to include your name and library barcode/institution ID number.
Please note:
- Overdue items can not be renewed online.
- A patron who renews an overdue item is still responsible for the late fine that has accrued between the date that the item was originally due to be returned and the date upon which it was renewed.
- For Fitchburg State students, faculty and staff, your Institution ID is the number on your One Card and your Library Barcode is your Banner number with the "@"symbol changed to a zero. Example: Institution ID is @12345678, Library Barcode is 012345678.
- For ARC, WILL and Special ID patrons, your Institution ID and Library Barcode number are both the number under the barcode on your Gallucci-Cirio Library Card starting "D17....".
