Construction Technology
The Construction Technology concentration provides students with the information essential to find rewarding and challenging careers in the construction industry. Field and laboratory applications include the coordination of workers, material, subcontractors and regulatory agencies. Topics related to the design, specification and construction processes are covered. The processes of estimating and managing construction projects are also studied through a planned sequence of courses.
In addition to courses in their concentration, all Industrial Technology students receive a well-rounded technical core of classes in electrical systems, metal fabrication, technical drawing, technical analysis, computers in industrial technology, chemistry, physics and the evolution of industrial technology.

Fitchburg State College's construction technology program is in the spotlight thanks to an article in MassBuilder magazine.
The article, titled "Building the Future," looks at the growth of program, which turns 20 this year. Construction technologyis a concentration within the industrial technology major. Students who follow the concentration are trained to be managerial personnel in the construction industry.
The program has a successful job placement rate and receives support from the Builders Association of Central Massachusetts.
