APPLICATION PROCEDURES

These grants are given in honor of the late Professor Ruth Butler of the Mathematics Department.

Purpose:

Grants are to be awarded to promote professional or artistic development, or activities that are appropriate to furthering the goals of Fitchburg State College.

Eligibility:

Grants normally may be awarded to full-time members of the faculty, librarians, administration, and student body of Fitchburg State College. If in any one year such grants use less than the funds available, part-time members of the four groups may be considered as grantees. No Ruth Butler Grants Committee members may apply for the grants during the period of their tenure.

Grants Committee:

The Ruth Butler Grants Committee will consist of four faculty members, one student chosen from the Leadership Academy, and one member of the administration. The Committee quorum will consist of the representatives of the administration and students and at least two faculty members.

Application:

Grant applicants must submit a completed application form together with a resume or curriculum vitae. Grant applications are available at:  http://www.fsc.edu/grantctr/ruthbutler.cfm . Applications are due at the Grant Center (Conlon, Room 220) on March 18, 2009 by 4:00 PM.  They may be mailed, hand delivered or submitted via email to sgoldsby@fsc.edu.  No hand written applications will be accepted. Applications are solicited from full-time faculty, librarians, administrators and students (individuals or teams) from January until the March 18th deadline. There is a preference for proposals involving students as partners in the scholarship/creative activity.

Grant Awards:

Grants will be awarded late in April of the academic year.  All monies become available on July 1, 2009 and must be expended by June 30, 2010.

Grantee's Responsibility:

Grantees will be responsible for a final report on their work to the college community submitted to the Grant Center.   Grantees are expected to submit the reports to the Fitchburg State College Grant Center in a timely fashion. Funds for all grants must be expended during the 2010 fiscal year.
