Recent Course Offerings

Not everything in the catalog has been offered, so a student may find it useful to know which courses have in fact been offered in recent memory.

PHYS 2400 General Physics II

It should be noted that some of the advanced courses have been presented as "directed study" (i.e., a tutorial) rather than as a normal class because the course is required in order for a student to graduate but there were insufficient numbers of students electing to take that particular course at that time.   Thus one can correctly infer that the relatively small number of our majors presents an environment where students are known as individuals.

To complete a major in our department a student currently needs to take 36 credit hours from the following:

Core Courses

GEOG 1000 Introduction to Earth Science (formerly, Intro to Geography)
GEOG 2100 Geology
GEOG 2800 Map Use

Required Courses for the Geography Track

GEOG 2400 Computer Applications in Geography/Earth Science
GEOG 3400 Population Geography
GEOG 3500 Geographic Information Systems
GEOG 4800 Computer Cartography (formerly Cartography I & II)

We are in the process of reviewing the curriculum.

PHYS 2000 Astronomy
BIOL 2300 Ecology

There are more requirements, of course, including courses in mathematics and chemistry, and for those seeking the provisional or initial licensure in teaching some education courses.   And then there are the general education requirements set by the college, but once the department's requirements are met, the college's further stipulations can be met easily.
