Necessary Paperwork
When hired, the student brings a job description, provided by the
supervisor, to the Payroll Office, where federal and state tax withholdings,
I-9 employment eligibility verification, and master payroll forms
must be completed prior to beginning employment.
Wages
Hourly pay rate is typically $7.75/hr., or as determined by the
supervisor.
Benefits
Student employees are NOT covered by the College Workers Compensation
Plan, nor do they receive benefits such as vacation pay, sick pay,
holiday pay, etc. The operation principle of the employment
program is an hour's pay for an hour's work.
Work Hours
A student's work schedule is determined by the supervisor and must
follow the normal work week practices. No employee may work
longer than six hours without at least a 1/2 hour unpaid break.
Time cards
Each time card must include your name, social security number,
place of work, department account number, and pay period dates.
You must indicate the actual hours worked each day on a time card
that your supervisor will provide. Time cards must be completed
in ink. It is your responsibility to be sure your time card
is accurate, complete, and legible! Inaccurate, incomplete
or illegible time cards will be returned for correction, and your
payment will be delayed. All time cards must be submitted
to the Payroll Office by the supervisor or a non-student employee.
The Payroll Office will not accept time cards submitted directly
by the students. Time cards are due by noon on Monday.
Refer to the payroll schedule on the reverse side of the time card
for due dates.
Transferring Jobs
Students may transfer to a different position, but must notify
the Payroll Office before doing so. Students must first receive
their final pay check from their initial employer and bring their
final pay stub to the Payroll Office. New paperwork - job
description and a master payroll form must be completed prior to
starting work in another department.
