Application Checklist & Filing Deadlines
Filing Deadlines
Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling admission
basis. Notification for fall admission begins in December
and spring admission in September. On average, admission decisions
are mailed five to ten days after an application file becomes
complete.
Fall Admissions
- Priority deadline: April 15
- Applicants to Communications Media and Nursing are encouraged
to submit their completed applications by January 1.
- Deadline for International applicants: June 1
Spring Admissions
- Priority deadline for all applicants: November 1
- Deadline for International applicants: October 1
- Nursing applications are not accepted for the Spring
semester.

- Undergraduate Application (Joint Admissions applicants
should not complete this application. Please call the Admissions
Office to request an “Intent to Enroll” form.)
- Non-refundable application fee of $25.00. Do not send cash. Please
print applicant’s first and last name on the check
or money order. The application fee may be waived for those
applicants with extreme financial need who are recommended
in writing by a non-profit agency or their high school guidance
counselor.
- Official college transcripts from each college attended.
Transcripts are considered official only when sent to Fitchburg
State College directly from the college.
- Official final high school transcript. Transcripts are
official only when sent to Fitchburg State College directly
from the high school. Applicants who have completed a GED
should also submit official test results. Transfer applicants
who have earned an associate’s degree are not required
to submit high school or GED information.
- Official SAT and/or ACT test scores are required ONLY
from applicants with fewer than twelve transferable college
credits and who have been out of high school for less than
three years. Fitchburg State College’s CEEB code is:
3518.
- Application essay (see section IX on the application)
- OPTIONAL: Letters of recommendation. The Admissions Committee
encourages applicants to submit letters of recommendation
from transfer counselors or college professors.
- OPTIONAL: Admissions Interview.
- OPTIONAL: Communications Media applicants ONLY may also
submit ONE of the following:
- A one to two page statement that addresses previous
experience in the field and your career goal.
- A personal interview with Admissions
- An original script or storyboards. Please submit
no more than 5 pages of a script and no more than 5
storyboards (8” x 10”).
- An original film or video.
- Original artwork or slides of original artwork.
