Visit the College
Fitchburg, MA and the surrounding communities are a great
place to learn, live and work. North Central Massachusetts
is home to 250,000 people living in more than a dozen cities
and towns which range from rural to urban. Although Fitchburg
is less than a one hour drive from Boston, it is situated
in an area that is heavily forested and dotted with rivers,
lakes and hills. The city’s neighborhoods are a vibrant
reflection of its rich ethnic heritage. The Cleghorn area
retains ties to its French-Canadian roots while other sections
show signs of their Irish, Italian, Finnish and Greek backgrounds.
Culturally, the Fitchburg
Art Museum hosts a variety of quality exhibitions. The
Stratton
Players and the New
Players Theater Guild offer theatrical performances in
intimate settings. The Fitchburg
Public Library stages concerts ranging from chamber music
to jazz and presents a variety of children’s programs.
The Wallace Civic
Center seats more than 3,000 guests for concerts, offers
a variety of skating programs and also houses a fine planetarium.
The Fitchburg Historical
Society offers a fascinating look at the city’s
history and culture.
Amidst Fitchburg’s rolling hills and beautiful landscapes,
outdoor activities such as fishing, canoeing, skiing, camping,
rock-climbing and hiking offer the opportunity to enjoy the
city’s scenic, rural setting. Mt.
Wachusett State Park offers hiking and bicycling, while
Wachusett Mountain Ski
Resort offers skiing as well as a wide variety of on-going
cultural events. The Flatrock Wildlife Sanctuary, home to
deer, hawks and other forms of wildlife, is just one mile
from campus.
