| July 21 - 25, 2008 |
Many school systems combine various arts departments under one director from a single arts discipline (music, art, drama or dance). The Fine Arts Directors Certificate Program is designed for individuals responsible for the supervision of fine arts programs or teachers moving into such areas of responsibility. The certificate program is offered as part of the summer session, and consists of four three-credit graduate courses.
Courses may be applied toward attainment of the master's of education degree in Arts Education, Education Leadership and Management, the Non-Clinical Master of Elementary or Secondary Education, or the CAGS programs in Education Leadership and Management or Interdisciplinary Studies with advisor's approval. Credits earned through the Fine Arts Director Certificate Program fulfill all requirements for state licensure. Applicants seeking admission to graduate degree candidacy are cautioned that a maximum of six semester hours may be accepted in transfer from non-matriculated status.
Individuals must apply for admission to the certificate program through the college's Office of Admissions. While acceptance to the Fine Arts Director Certificate Program is not necessary in order to register for classes, individuals must apply and be accepted before the completion of the certificate program. In addition to having a bachelor's for the Fine Arts Director Certificate Program, individuals must also meet appropriate academic department criteria to be eliglible for admissions consideration.
