Course Description: Curriculum
Connections through Community Service Learning is a course designed to present
service-learning partnerships as a strategy for teachers to use in order to
challenge and guide students in obtaining the knowledge, skills, values and
commitment necessary to thrive academically, socially and emotionally in today’s
society. Teachers will design and
implement a service-learning project that demonstrates rigorous learning in
their content area through adherence to the MA Frameworks. Promising practices in service-learning
partnerships will be explored, and educators will examine methods of
introducing service-learning partnerships into all academic disciplines at all
grade levels while maintaining academic rigor.
Participants will also engage in a service-learning project in action.
