Counseling Services Relaxation Exercise
Incorporating relaxation exercises into a program of good self-care has proven beneficial for many people. Certainly, exercises such as these are no substitute for quality medical and psychological care, however most individuals find taking "time out" to relax helps to de-stress and maintain balance in our lives.
This particular exercise is a recording created by Lauren O'Brien, MA, and incorporates techniques including "body scanning" and visualization to achieve its desired effects. Most people will find this exercise to be generally relaxing and rewarding (though the true benefits of relaxation, like most things in life, come with practice). A small proportion of people may find this exercise to be uncomfortable and/or unsettling, so you are urged to discontinue this program if any unpleasant effects should occur. By all means, seek the advice of a healthcare professional if you have any questions about your personal use of this or other relaxation exercises.
Please note that the audio segment of this exercise will play as an .mp3 file, and may require adjustment of your computer's speakers.
If you choose to continue and experience the benefits of relaxation, allocate the next ten minutes or so...find a quiet and safe place, scroll down on this page, and follow the link. Enjoy.
