Internship Testimonials
I have a great internship, working for NBC. It's a great way to transition from the classroom to the working world. I talk to promotions directors from across the country on a daily basis. I get to attend meetings about the future of the network. I even got to help produce things with Katie Couric, Al Roker, and Brian Williams! As I send out my resume over the next few months, I know that this experience is going to give me a great edge in a competitive industry, and that's a really great feeling.

The Communications Media internship program at Fitchburg State College provided me with a great opportunity to gain practical real world experience in the Communications industry. I went through a rigorous preparation and qualification process to ensure that my resume, portfolio, and other materials would enable me to score a great internship site. The Communications Media Department’s extensive internship relationships enabled me to find a great internship site that matched my talents, needs, and future career aspirations. I was interested in doing Post Production or Producing work in Washington DC. The Communications Media department connected me with The McGinn Group, a premier Communications & Public Relations firm, where I am now working in a full-time internship as an Avid Editor and Media Producer. I’m sure that my internship experience will open doors to further job opportunities after I graduate.

Interning at Kopelson Entertainment has provided me the opportunity to read scripts, write coverage of scripts, and meet knowledgeable people in the industry. I am also privileged to look over files, seeing how budgets are broken down, and how the process of hiring cast and crew take place. There are the entry-level tasks common to all internships, but it’s all worth it--a great experience that teaches a person a lot about the film industry.

My internship at Channel 7 (WHDH, a TV-7 NBC affiliate) has been a remarkable opportunity as well as a learning experience. As a full-time intern, I have had the opportunity to become familiar with the day-to-day activities and responsibilities of a Public Relations Director. I have also made numerous contacts and participated in several events. Nothing can compare to the lessons I have learned professionally, realistically and technically in the hands-on environment. I credit this entire experience to the well structured program required in the Communications Media Department at Fitchburg State College.
