Campus Police: Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)


What is R.A.D.?

R.A.D., Rape Aggression Defense, is a self-defense course designed exclusively for women. The objective of this course is simple... to develop and enhance the options of self-defense so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked. It is further designed to empower women through self defense.

How is the Course Run?

The RAD course consists of four 3-hour classes.

Who can Take the Class?

FSC female students and employees as well as female friends of students and employees. All ages are encouraged and welcome.

How Much Does It Cost?

The class is FREE. You will be given the student manual.

Why RAD?

Because. . .

  • RAD link1 out of 3 women can expect to be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. (Cohen, A., 1988; Become Street Wise)
  • Every 21 hours, there is a rape on a college campus. (USA Today, 1990; 7-part Campus Crime Series)
  • 10 times as many rapes are committed than are reported. (FBI 1986; Crime in the U.S.)
  • 7 days a week, averaging every 2 hours and 12 minutes, a violent crime is committed on a college campus. (USA Today, 1990; 7-part Campus Crime Series)
  • 1 out of 12 college males admit to acts legally defined as rape or attempted rape. (Mademoiselle, May 1991; Out of Bounds)
  • 1 out of every 4 college women polled was sexually assaulted during four years at college. (Ms. Magazine Study on Sexual Assault and Rape)
  • 1.3 women are raped each minute in the United States. (National Victims Center Report, 1992)
  • 78% of rape victims know the rapist. (National Victims Center Report, 1992)

R.A.D Class Schedule

UPCOMING CLASS TO BE HELD:

Classes for RAD WOMEN are currently not being scheduled due to RADKIDS Program commencing. A significant number of requests for the program to be held sooner than anticipated, will impact the scheduling of a class.
