Mobil 911 Cellular Phones
The Fitchburg State College Police Department
extends overt and professional efforts to provide services
to victims of domestic abuse and violence. We have found
that in addition to physical safety, a sense of psychological
wellness is essential along with a feeling of personal control.
To that end, we have available to loan Mobil 911 phones.
This cellular type phone is an emergency communications
device that immediately connects to a 911 operator by the
touch of a button and is also equipped with a 95-decibel
siren.
American Defender Whistle Program
The Fitchburg State College Police distributes
safety whistles at college events to our students. These
whistles are intended to deter or prevent crime and to be
used as a call for help. The whistle is shrill, loud, and
of very high quality. It can be used to signal for help,
frighten away someone who means you harm or alert neighbors
to call the police.
Screecher - Personal Emergency Alarms
There are times on a college campus when a
member of the community is unnerved by a specific personal
event or reports that someone else may have been a victim.
Such occasions often cause valid concerns for personal safety
and may interfere with a person's psychological and physical
well being. It is times like these that the Fitchburg State
College Police will give a Screecher to student victims
or concerned students.
The Screecher is an ear piercing Screecher
Emergency Alarm that can be used to summon help, possibly
prevent personal harm, and can be viewed as ideal protection
for anyone concerned with personal safety.
ICE (in case of emergency) Cell Phone Program
The recommendation is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.
Operation Identification Program
To aid in the recovery of property should
it be lost to crime, we suggest keeping records of all personal
items of value. Record the serial numbers, model numbers,
brand names and descriptions of property in a safe place
or leave at home while at school. Engravers and forms are
available from Fitchburg State College Campus Police Department
to mark personal property as a deterrent to theft.
Crime Prevention Programs and Presentations
The Fitchburg State College Campus Police
make numerous presentations on a whole range of issues from

guest lecturers in classrooms, attend student events and
participate in forums designed to educate on particular
topics. They also speak with students in the resident halls
in informal settings on a variety of topics.
Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act
The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act

advising the campus community with state law enforcement
