Alumni Association: Mentoring Program
Mentoring Network
The Fitchburg State College Career Services Office in collaboration
with the Alumni Office, is developing and implementing
a mentoring network with the use of our online
job placement service, Alumni Central.
The Mentoring Network provides
alumni, students and the Career Services Office with a network of contacts to assist in career development activities. This online
database also:
- Allows alumni and other mentors to volunteer their time to assist current FSC students in their career development.
- Assists the Career Services Office in directing and managing online contacts so that alumni, mentors, and students gain the greatest benefit possible from the network.
- Enables the Career Services Office to collect information on student
and alumni employment, and the assistance they received in finding
employment.
The Career Services Office maintains approval over mentor profiles to help
ensure that they are readable, complete and accurate. The mentoring network also gives the Career Services Office the
capability to contact mentors to ask them to update their profiles,
and to email notification of those students that contact them.
Mentoring activities include:
- Conducting informational interviews with students or other alumni interested in your field
- Email or telephone networking with students
- Recruiting or facilitating recruitment of students at career fairs
- Conducting presentations on campus for student groups or departments
If you feel that you could assist current
students or alumni in the above-listed activities, or if you require
further information, please contact the Career Services
Office at (978) 665-3151
or
careersvs@fsc.edu or contact the Alumni Office at (978) 665-3441 or alumni@fsc.edu.
