The Business Administration Department at Fitchburg State College prepares students
to take a responsible position within the world of business, equipped with a knowledge of business theories, policies, and procedures.
Four-Year Undergraduate Program
With a combination of liberal arts, professional courses and a variety of practical business experiences, the curriculum provides opportunities for experiential learning
through internships, which is where students apply the theory of the classroom to a specific work experience.
Business Administration students may earn a Bachelor of Science degree in one of four specializations: accounting,
finance, management or marketing. Minors include business administration, computer science, English, international studies, communications/media, economics,
industrial technology and psychology.
Facilities
Fitchburg State College has facilities tailored to the needs of local business. These include the Business and Industry Center and the Business Laboratory, a student run consulting firm. Such unique facilities give our students the opportunity to work with a variety of businesses on projects that are not simply academic exercises, but are real-world projects. Students involved with these projects learn how to analyze data, work cooperatively and implement changes that affect the local economy.
Students also have access to Fitchburg State College’s Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library, a comprehensive information center dedicated to the educational development
of all students. The library boasts 200,000 volumes, all accessible to students. All students, and faculty members, regardless of location, have access to databases, reference librarians, document delivery, library instruction, reference services and library materials. The library is open seven days a week and provides study tables, carrels and seating on all four levels.
The college also has a state-of-the-art fiber optic system that provides each classroom, lab and residence hall with access to the Internet, advanced phone service and cable television. Media classrooms located around the campus allow faculty to present materials using state-of-the-art technology. In addition to the computer labs available on campus, a bank of computers in the Commuter Café gives us our own campus cyber café.
These facilities, coupled with the dynamic and energetic teaching available from the faculty, provide the necessary resources for an exceptional education.

The faculty for the Business Administration Department at Fitchburg State College offer a wide variety of real-life business expertise and teaching expertise. This varied group of professionals brings public and private, national and international, and large and small business experience to the classroom, advising meetings and co-curricular activities.
The Business Administration faculty deliver a sound, practical and useful approach to their program. Our emphasis on career preparation coupled with field-based experiences provides that competitive advantage for a student applying for that first job, graduate school or a promotion.

Imagine working at a Fortune 500 company. Imagine starting your own consulting firm while still an undergraduate. For students in the Business Administration Department, these scenarios are more than just imaginary. Students in our majors have the opportunity to seek out internships off campus at hundreds of local businesses or through the Business Laboratory.

Results
If job placement is a standard of success, then graduates of the Business Administration Department have been very successful. Within six months of graduating, more than 93 percent of Business graduates have found employment in their chosen fields. Business majors do well in the marketplace. Eighty-three percent of our graduates report finding full-time positions within six months of graduation, with an average salary of $31,000.
More important than immediate success, though, are the long-term prospects for Fitchburg State graduates. The skills, knowledge base and adaptability students acquire during their time on campus prepare them for the inevitable changes in the marketplace. Through coursework and co-curricular experiences, students can prepare for the one constant in their professional lives: change.
