Faculty Absence
The faculty absentee voice message can let you know if your professor is out before you head to your class. Call campus extension 3580 for a listing of faculty members who have called out for that day.
Inclement Weather Closing
In the event of an inclement weather closing commuter students and staff can all the weather hotline at (978) 665-4003 or (978) 665-4004. Resident students can call campus extension 3006. School closing cancellation announcements are given on Boston television stations WBZ (Channel 4), WCVB (Channel 5) and WHDH (Channel 7). Commercial radio stations include the
WPKZ
(AM 1280), WBZ (AM 1030), WXLO (104.5 FM). Cancellations are listed as Fitchburg State College only; any other Fitchburg listings do not pertain to the college.
Shuttle Service
Fitchburg State College provides free shuttle service for students, faculty, staff and visitors during class days. The shuttle leaves the Wallace Civic Center parking lot on John Fitch Highway every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and 6:30 to midnight on Sunday. It travels throughout campus, making stops at McKay Campus School, Weston Auditorium, Hammond Building, the Recreation Center and the MART parking garage.
Parking
A parking permit is required to use Fitchburg State College’s student parking lots. A Civic Center permit is available to any student at no cost. Temporary Permits may also be issued to campus visitors and for other special conditions for short periods of time. Permits can be obtained from Housing and Residential Services.
